I have greatly enjoyed my work as a birth doula, childbirth educator and breastfeeding consultant. Life presents us with opportunities and I have been given the chance to train as a midwife. We are also joyfully anticipating the expected arrival of our sixth child in February of 2006. Unfortunately this means that I can no longer offer any of the services I use to. More than 10,000 visitors come to this site each month with over 260,000 total hits each month. Since many find the information so valuable, I am reluctant to close the site. Instead I hope to convert it to an information only site, providing basic information on many options for expecting and new parents. I also hope that it can act as a portal to more detailed information on these options that may be available at other websites. I volunteer my time and resources to keep this site running so please be patient as I try to implement these changes. Please visit often to check for any new information and feel free to contact me with suggestions and/or feed back.

The most important decision you need to make is who your caregiver will be. It is important to not just have someone that will 'let' you do what you want but someone who believes in it enough to go out of their way to help you accomplish it. If you would like to learn more about midwives and find one in your area, please visit them at www.aom.on.ca. If you are interested in working with a midwifery student that would be able to provide free labour support please see the program listed below. If you are looking for a doula please visit www.Canadiandoulas.com, www.Dona.org or www.cappacanada.ca. For a list of breastfeeding consultants, please visit Dr. Newman's page on this site. I have tried to make this site easy to use and informative. Please explore and feel free to contact me with any questions.

INVITATION TO PREGNANT WOMENFree labour support by midwifery students We invite you to participate in the Midwifery Education Program if your baby is due between October 2005 and March 7, 2006 and you live in or near Brampton, Kitchener, Milton, Scarborough, Toronto or Tottenham. The student will visit you at your home, accompany you to a prenatal class or visit, attend during labour and birth, and she will visit you in the hospital or home following the birth. The visits will be arranged at your convenience. She will be available to assist you as a support person during labour. She can provide comfort measures such as massage and drinks, as permitted, at your request. The student will be most interested in what you think and feel about being pregnant and having a baby. The student will not be providing clinical care and will not in any way replace the care you receive from your family physician, obstetrician, midwife or nurses. For more information click here.
